- Print and frame a few of your favorite pictures. This could include photos of parents, extended family, good friends, significant other etc. Or, print up some funny pics with friends that make you smile. Then, place these around your living space when you move in!
- Bring along or buy a favorite scented candle, essential oils etc. Think of scents that are comforting or have a special memory for you attached to them.

- Have a favorite blanket? How about a cozy robe? Bring them along so you can wrap up in them and relax.
- Bring recipes along (digitally via an app like Evernote or physical copies in a folder) so you can actually make your favorite home-cooked dishes when you crave a taste from your hometown.
- Do you like houseplants? Bring one or two along to make your place feel even more homey.
