Historical facts about Bossier City LA
Bossier City has a rich and fascinating history. The town originally was part of a plantation and is strategically located near the Red River. This prominent location greatly helped the city as it provided a means of transportation for goods and for people. During the 1800s, settlers passed through Bossier City in their wagons on the way out west. Later, in the early 1900s, Bossier City LA once again saw a boon of people as nearby oil fields fueled growth to the area.

In other states, the term "county" is used to determine governmental and geographical delineations. But why is Louisiana different? Louisiana's colonial forefathers had ties to France and Spain, both predominately Roman Catholic countries. When Louisiana was divided up into regions, they used the church parishes as a rough guide for grouping populations of people. Although more parishes have been added and names have changed over the years, the term has stuck and is now part of what makes this state so unique and special!
