First of all, what is the purpose of a conference? Business conferences are designed to gather professionals of similar job types together to learn from each other and from industry experts. Conferences (aka conventions, trade shows and expos) provide the perfect opportunity for networking and are valuable tools that companies can use to gain business…especially for those that specialize in B2B (business to business) work.

Now, let’s talk about two exciting events that will be happening in the next few months. One of these events is the National Tour Association’s Travel Exchange conference, which will be held from November 12-15, 2023. The Shreveport Convention Center will host the conference of tour, hospitality and travel experts from such companies as Norwegian Cruise Line, the National Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum and Discover Slovakia Tours.

If you’re coming to Northwest Louisiana for the Travel Exchange conference, you’ll love the chance to explore all that we offer tourists and short term visitors. You can join one of the four Sightseeing Tours organized through the National Tour Association or strike out on your own to find your favorite spot for King Cake, craft beer or artwork.

But why stay for just the conference when you can take a fun bleisure travel trip?! The word “bleisure” comes from an abbreviation of “business leisure” and really is the best of both worlds. Our short term rentals allow tenants to stay a month or longer and are fully furnished for maximum comfort and minimal effort for those that stay with us. Sellers at the Travel Exchange event (or any conference!) will love the ability to arrive a week or two before the event to set up and get acquainted with the city. Afterwards, relax and take time for more sightseeing and fun.

An extended stay Shreveport is also ideal for temporary workers who come in to help set up and take down the infrastructure within an event space. After all, many hours of time are spent in setup before the actual conference takes place! That’s why you’ll want a month-to-month condo for rent so your team can come early and get things ready to go beforehand.

Speaking of entertainment, sporting events are big business as well! The Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl will be held in December 2023. The football game isn’t the only thing visitors can enjoy, though! If you come early, you’ll be able to attend a free concert, Mardi Gras Preview Parade, fireworks show and more. Come hungry on game day and participate in the tailgating celebrations beforehand.

Of course, Shreveport isn’t all just fun and games. Companies seeking a southern location for a trade show or regional event will love the “big small town” feel of our city as well as its proximity to other larger metropolitan areas such as Dallas and Houston, Texas. Shreveport-Bossier City may be smaller than Dallas, but we have some incredible event facilities that you’ll love.

Convention and Event Centers in Shreveport

The Shreveport Convention Center is just North of downtown and features two levels with 350,000 square feet of indoor space for use.

Although smaller, the Bossier City Civic Center still boasts 24,000 square feet of available space for conferences or events. It’s only a few miles from Barksdale Air Force Base and has a concessions stand as well as a banquet hall, kitchen and large parking lot.

The Shreveport Municipal Auditorium is definitely the most famous of these spaces listed. The building has been a pillar of Shreveport since 1929 and hosted the Louisiana Hayride show for more than a decade. Have you heard the phrase “Elvis has left the building”? That first happened right here in Shreveport! Elvis performed many times on the Hayride show here in our fair city and the Auditorium still hosts events today.
