It’s travel season, so you know we’re going to talk about fun places to go and things to see this summer! Shreveport LA is the perfect “jumping off point” to explore the South. It’s situated near Texas and is less than 6 hours away from the sights, sounds and tastes of New Orleans. Dallas, Texas is about 3 hours away and is becoming quite the foodie city. If you’re looking for a delicious French bakery, check out La Tarte Tropézienne. The new Eataly location offers an Italian market as well as several restaurants.
If you’re looking for things to do, try the Six Flags over Texas amusement park, The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza about President JFK, the Texas Motor Speedway and more.
Most people associate Louisiana with New Orleans, so don’t forget to go and visit the city while you’re working as a traveling nurse in the area. New Orleans is about 5 hours one way from Shreveport. It boasts a wide variety of tourist spots, including the French Quarter, The Historic New Orleans Collection museums and The National WWII Museum among others. NOLA is steeped in rich history and is a fascinating city to visit and learn more about.
Do you like listening to good music? Well, New Orleans is the place to be. It’s the birthplace of jazz and you can find live music around the city…use this link and this one for more information. Don’t forget to stop by Cafe Du Monde and get some delicious beignets (it’s essentially a powdered doughnut that’s famous in NOLA).
