  • The Northwest Louisiana Master Gardeners is an active group of dedicated horticulturists in Louisiana. They have frequent events / meetings and have scheduled their garden tour of Shreveport homes for June 4-5, 2022. The garden tour is called Le Tour des Jardins and you can buy tickets on their website. It’s a “don’t miss” experience if you enjoy gardening or just want to enjoy the beautiful flowers that local-area homeowners have cultivated.
  • The American Rose Center is the premier location to view roses. That’s because it’s the US headquarters for the American Rose Society, a historic organization with worldwide membership. The gardens are situated on 118 acres and with a Heritage Garden, Asian Garden and, of course, lots of roses!
  • We’ve discussed the R.W. Norton Art Gallery before, but it deserves another mention here since it boasts a serene botanical gardens with a large array of azaleas that are absolutely stunning when blooming. Come relax in the shade of our forested gardens and get some exercise as you walk around and drink in the beauty of the place.
  • The Biedenharn Museum and Gardens is located approximately 1.5 hours east of Shreveport in Monroe, Louisiana. If you’re looking for a day trip outside the city, this is perfect! The Biedenharn grounds are designed to emulate an English garden and feature immaculately trimmed plants as well as an elegant conservatory.
  • Located on Avery Island LA, Jungle Gardens will take more than a day to drive to and fully appreciate. Jungle Gardens is about 4 hours away from Shreveport by car, but is worth the effort to get there! It’s a unique experience with opportunities to see birds (such as egrets), alligators and other wildlife, flowers and a giant bamboo grove. You can also tour the Tabasco© sauce factory and view their museum while on the Island.
