In with the new! Downsize and choose our travel nurse housing in Shreveport

“Traveling light” is, after all, a really good theory. That’s because lugging around large suitcases filled with clothes and paraphernalia that you never end up using isn’t the best use of your energies. Most of the time, you can buy some items wherever you end up going to! Experienced travelers know that less is more if the items are good quality. In this post, we’ll discuss how our fully furnished travel nurse housing makes it easier for you to pack. We’ll also cover some options for selling off items if you need to downsize your closet!

How do I best downsize my closet / other items?

For medical professionals, nurses and anyone traveling frequently, it’s important to regularly assess your things and downsize when possible. Have you worn that pair of pants in the last 3-6 months? If not, consider getting rid of them. Buying new clothes is lots of fun, but selling them off can be more of a challenge. However, thanks to the plethora of online options, if you’re looking to make some money from your gently used clothes, you’re in luck. Check out the list below for more info…

  • Have you heard of Mercari? Check them out…you can sell anything from clothing to handmade items, electronics sports gear and more.
  • If you have a Facebook account, you probably are familiar with Facebook Marketplace. The nice thing about this online selling platform is that you can see the other person’s profile picture and learn a little more about the person before agreeing to meet. Facebook also offers shipping as well, so if you’d prefer to deal with customers indirectly, that is an option as well. However, you will be charged a fee for this.
  • ThredUp is a clothing-only marketplace, but is an easier way to get rid of things if you have a lot of clothes. They will send you a kit and you can fill and send to them. Note that you probably won’t make as much money with them as with some of the other options, but ThredUp is simpler to use.
  • Craigslist has been around since the mid-1990s and is still an option for selling items online. As with all of these selling platforms, be careful who you sell to, but take a little extra care with Craigslist and keep the personal information you list to a minimum.
  • Like Mercari, OfferUp.com allows you to sell a wide variety of household items.
  • You may think of antiques when you think of eBay, but this website offers much more than that these days.
New, used and antique items can all be found here.
  • Last but not least is Poshmark. It works somewhat like a social platform and also has the selling feature.

Of course, maybe you’d prefer to donate any unneeded items instead of selling them. In that case, you could give them to a local Goodwill store. Or, if desired, the donations could go to a place of worship, charity or homeless shelter of your choice.

Please keep in mind that the websites / apps mentioned are only suggestions…we are providing these options as a convenience to our current and potential tenants! We don’t specifically endorse any company listed.
