Another old classic, Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte, starred Bette Davis and was partially filmed at Houmas House Plantation in Darrow, LA. Houmas House is a gorgeous mansion with gardens and features several restaurants for visitors to enjoy. Take a tour and check out the link above for other movies that also have ties here.
Like Houmas, Oak Alley Plantation has also served as the site for a number of films or shows. These include Interview with a Vampire and Midnight Bayou as well as an episode of Ghost Hunters. The National Historic site has many education exhibits where you can learn about the history of the place and is located in Vacherie, Louisiana.
Besides Shreveport, New Orleans is another great place to visit if you’re looking for a variety of things to do or places to eat. We’ve discussed some options in a previous post.
