Christmas season is just about over, but you can still celebrate the holiday spirit this last week of the year! Christmas lights and hot chocolate sound perfect, don’t they?! In this post, we’ll talk about several spots in the greater Louisiana and Texas area where you can enjoy some beautiful light displays. We’ll also share a recipe for cocoa that you can make back home in our Shreveport LA rentals!
Take a fun road trip for these don’t miss attractions
Have some time off work this week? Jump in the car and head to some of these towns where you can witness some truly lovely displays. In fact, some of these locations are along the “famous” Louisiana Holiday Trail of Lights tour that tourists and locals alike can experience!- The Natchitoches Festival of Lights is approximately 1.5 hours south of Shreveport and boasts more than 300,000 lights through downtown and along Cane River Lake.
- Wonderland of Lights in Marshall, Texas is a treat for the whole family. Ride the Wonderland Express train around the square, take a spin in the carousel and go ice skating!
- The Santa Country Christmas is around 2.5 hours away in a suburb of Dallas (Seagoville, Texas). As such, make sure to plan for an overnight stay in the area just to make sure you have enough time to fully enjoy the event as well as many other sights, sounds and tastes in the Dallas metro. There’s lots to do!
- Candy Cane Lane is in Calhoun, LA, just over 1.25 hours from Shreveport. You can book your tickets online or pay cash in person.
When you arrive, prepare to feast your eyes on more than one million lights!! - If you’re on your way to Candy Cane Lane, you’ll drive past the quaint town of Minden, Louisiana. The Old World Christmas Lights Spectacular in Minden as well as historic downtown and cute-as-a-button shops make this a great stop.
- Carmela’s Magical Santa Land in Longview, TX has more than three million lights! You can drive or walk through the display at your leisure.
