Cool treats sure can help to beat the summer heat! There’s nothing that defines summer more than ice cream. Well, maybe time at the swimming pool would be a close second place. In this post, we’ll explore the city of Shreveport’s ice cream shops and talk about where you should go if you want to take a dip in a pool. Our travel nurse housing is centrally located so you can see and do as much (or as little) as you want to while staying in our Louisiana hometown.
Who is screaming for ice cream? Me!
What’s your favorite ice cream flavor? Young and old, everyone loves to talk about this topic. It’s a great conversation starter in general as well as one that nurses such as yourself might use to talk with patients and help calm them down. In the hospital, this can be very valuable! While you’re here in Shreveport and the surrounding area, you’ll want to visit some of the following locations:
- You’ve got to check out the delicious Sweetport Ice Cream shop for your ice cold treats. This small business has a unique blend of flavors, including one called “Elvis has left the building”, which is perfect considering that Elvis has a musical connection right here in Shreveport LA!
- Happy Belly’s Italian Ice Factory offers refreshing Italian Ices in a wide variety of flavor options, including everything from Birthday Cake to Mango, Strawberry Kiwi and many more. They also sell frozen custard and concretes.
- Counter Culture has a healthy twist on frozen yogurt…their treats are topped with fruit, granola and honey! You can also order a tasty lunch from their counter beforehand.
- Other options in town include Baskin-Robbins, Marble Slab Creamery, Andy’s Frozen Custard, Dairy Queen etc.
Let’s go swimming!
- If you’re looking for another way to cool down, check out Splash Kingdom. This is a family-friendly waterpark that’s good, wet fun for all ages!
- The YMCA of Northwest Louisiana is a great solution for all things swim-related. You can take swimming lessons, enjoy Aquatics classes with other members or even join a swim team where a coach can help you improve your skills.
- Bossier City has several public swimming pools where you can enjoy the water.
