They say that “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” Nevertheless, there are still some places that are too beautiful not to share with the world! In this post, we’ll share some not-to-miss spots near the Shreveport-Bossier City metro where you can snap some selfies and share your memories and travel experiences with Instagram followers. We’ll also explain how our extended stay Shreveport is ideal for business travelers, nurses and anyone needing a short term rental in northern Louisiana.
Where to get the best selfies in town?
Looking for a photo that shows you’re living the urban life? Visit the Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets shopping area for great pictures and some retail therapy. Check out the area by the downtown Courtyard by Marriott for some good angles.Do you prefer a daytime shot or a photo that captures the evening glow of lights? You won’t want to miss a picture in front of the Bakowski Bridge of Lights on the Texas Street Bridge! Your best opportunity to get a stellar photo is at the monthly Glo Fest…the next one is on November 3rd, 2023. Each Glo Fest features the bridge light show, music, food and more.
As long as you’re hanging out downtown, take an afternoon at the Shreveport Aquarium. Learn more about sharks, alligators and even feed a sting ray! Of course, your visit wouldn’t be complete without those obligatory Instagram snapshots…if you don’t have a photo, it’s like you didn’t go!
A picture might be worth a thousand words, but what if the photo itself has words in it? Even better! Shreveport is home to a number of gorgeous murals, including “From Shreveport With Love,” which is a perfect place for getting a photo to send back home to loved ones. Don’t forget to visit the 14-story masterpiece called “Once in a Millennium Moon” while you’re here.
Abby Singer’s Bistro at the Robinson Film Center has a pretty upstairs patio area for some fun views and photos with food!
Prefer nature photos? East Kings Highway Park, aka “The Duck Pond”, lends itself to serene outdoor shots with water, green grass and ducks in the background. Plus, it’s conveniently located 10 minutes from downtown!
If you don’t mind making a day trip out of your photo shoot, check out:
You can’t get a more “southern style” photo than one with a beautiful bayou in the background! Check out Caddo Lake, which is about an hour’s drive from Shreveport. You’ll get some lovely shots of the water, complete with Cypress trees and Spanish moss! If you’ve never heard of the term “bayou” before, it’s a swamp-like river common in the south.1
In the summertime, drive 30 minutes north of Shreveport LA to the little town of Giliam for the Sunflower Trail and Festival. You’ll love the gorgeous sunflower fields and small-town charm, plus lots of great photo ops!
