In this post, we discuss several kitchen cleanup tips and tricks for busy professionals.
Cleanup Can Be a Breeze in Your Rental
One benefit of renting a short term apartment is the peace of mind it offers. After all, renting gives you the ability to enjoy a reasonably-priced accommodation with the bonus of a longer lease and more space than a traditional hotel would have. In addition, our fully furnished rentals offer in-unit washer and dryer, living room area with TV and a fully equipped kitchen. Of course, keeping the kitchen clean is part of life…even at a rental. Check out some tips below for quick cleaning ideas.Tired of cleaning that greasy, splattered microwave? Here’s an easy tip! Get a fresh lemon and cut it into slices. Place the slices and some water into a microwave-safe bowl and run it for several minutes. Leave the microwave closed for a little while after the buzzer goes off to let it steam clean. Then, open it up and wipe things out…it should smell fresh and be ready to use!
Speaking of steam, have you ever thought about using a handheld steamer (like one for your clothes) in the kitchen? Fire up that steamer and use it to clean tile or other non-porous surfaces with hard-baked food gunk on them. Why scrub and scrub when you can let hot water do the work for you?!
When you choose our extended stay Shreveport, you’re getting the benefit of a convenient place to make meals. That includes a full-sized refrigerator! Of course, keeping the fridge clean is an ongoing task…we discussed refrigerator organization tips in a previous post. But if you want an easy way to keep the fridge smelling fresh, turn to baking soda. Simply leave an opened box of baking soda in your fridge to help combat yucky smells. Or, place baking soda in several small bowls in your fridge to help fight odors even more. You’ll want to replace the soda after a couple of months.
Cleaning your rental kitchen only works if you’re using clean sponges to begin with. You may not realize it, but your kitchen sponge might be holding onto the bacteria it’s supposed to be removing! One quick way to combat this is to stick your wet sponge in the microwave or dishwasher. The heat will help to kill most of the persistent germs and you’ll be ready to go again! Or, use a vinegar bath to disinfect sponges.
Big meal or small snack, our fully furnished short term rentals are here for you. If you use our pots & pans for a dinner meal, you’ll probably want to clean off the messy leftover residue in the pan. One natural way to do this is with your friend, baking soda. The soda will bring pots back to sparkling clean! However, if you’re using a nonstick pan, please don’t use soda as this will scratch the surface…good old soap and water should do the trick!
Take out the trash frequently! If you dump leftovers into the kitchen trash, it can get stinky pretty quickly. After taking out a full bag, replace with a new one immediately. You can keep a few empty bags in the bottom of the trash can for fast replacement with a new trash bag. To keep slippery bags in place, use Command hooks or clips on the side of your trash can.
